You have been decieved by your own cold heart.: @ Saul →
He shrugged and waved his hand dismissively. “Whatever you want. Quite literally, as the second most powerful man at the school, I can give you anything. Just name it and it’s yours.” Saul didn’t care about an inch of this school. If she wanted to bomb the gym, he would allow it. As long as it didn’t interfere with any of his plans. Like Jeffrey’s request, which was to outlandish. But in the end, he would allow him to do as he wished. Kalden’s goal was next to nothing. Probably the easiest one to achieve. “You see Liz, I am a very generous man. I ask for so very little, and I give so much in return. It’s why i’m in this position. I’m a very good leader. And I like to treat my followers well. But I do require some form of tribute. Do we have a deal?”
Whatever she wanted. Liz couldn’t even remember the last time she actually wanted something. There wasn’t an object, a person a place that she would want to go to. She wasn’t a materialistic person. She believed that rewards came on their own after a good deed was done, the same with punishment. Sort of like Karma. But he was right, he wasn’t asking for very much. He was asking for something that Liz would do any day to help others instead of to give the information to him, and giving her whatever she wanted for such little work was very generous of him. This had to be the first time that a teacher actually acknowledge Liz’s habits as a virtue instead of something bad, and the first time she was enlisted to help out. Still something didn’t feel right. Whatever it was that he needed all this information for was curious to her, but not enough for her to serve as a spy. She never shied away from prying, but she never did it to put others in harm. She only ever did it to figure things out for herself, or others. “I’m sorry, Mr. Yuang. I don’t think I can help you out there.”
Saul had to use a lot of effort to keep his face calm and serene. Had she just told him no? He wasn’t very good with no, especially when he was being so giving. “I’m sorry to hear that Miss Cooper. You would have been helping me keep this school in order. And with the recent death of another student, I think we could all the surveillance we have.” There were so many ways to make her do as he asked. So many different ways he could torture her or brainwash her into being his little servant. But he had to maintain this ridiculous facade of being a staff member who cared about his students. It was agonizing, not being able to do everything he wanted. Saul never shied away from showing his true intentions or his true colors before, but there were just too many people here that could have him put down easily. “Please, reconsider my offer, and if you change your mind, let me know. You would be much appreciated around here. I’m sure Headmaster Absolum will agree with me when I say we need you. But I respect your decision.”
